A Shift definition

A Shiftis a portion of the day scheduled as a day’s work defined by ordinary hours for either day, afternoon or night shift as provided for in Clause 9 of this Agreement.
A Shiftrefers to the work shift from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. “B Shift� refers to the work shift from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m.
A Shift.(“sm na�) shall mean the part of weekly working time [section 83a(5)], excluding overtime, when an employee is engaged in work for his employer according to a predetermined pattern (schedule) of work shifts during a period of 24 consecutive hours.

Examples of A Shift in a sentence

  • A Shift is the scheduled period of work during the twenty-four (24) hour work day.

  • A Shift Manager is on duty 24 hours a day and is the Shift Emergency Director in a declared emergency until relieved of this function.

  • A Shift Premium of $0,30 per hour shall be paid for hours of work between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. A Premium of $0,35 per hour shall be paid for hours of work on Saturday and Sunday (Shift Premium will also apply in case of Saturday and Sunday shift between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.).

  • A Shift Worker is entitled to a crib break of 30 minutes' duration without loss of pay.

  • Example: A Shift that starts on Friday is straight time to completion of that shift.

  • Each candidate must participate in a minimum of five (5) ride-alongs in at least three (3) separate districts, to include one (1) ride along during A Shift and three (3) ride-alongs during C shift.

  • This Section applies only to those Officers holding the rank of Patrol Officer, Detective Investigator or Sergeant assigned to the Day (A Shift), Evening (B Shift), Dog Watch (C Shift), or the T shift of the Patrol Division.

  • A Shift Commander reviews the report and makes a recommendation for follow up investigation if deemed necessary.

  • A) Shift employees shall be entitled to two (2) fifteen (15) minute rest periods in each eight (8) hour shift and three (3) fifteen (15) minute rest periods in each twelve (12) hour shift.

  • When an assignment is declared vacant in a section of the Day (A Shift), Evening (B Shift), Dog Watch (C Shift), or the T shift of the Patrol Division, the opening shall be awarded to the most senior officer on that shift of the applicable rank who voluntarily requests that assignment.

Related to A Shift

  • Day Shift means a shift which commences at or after 6.00 am and before 10.00 am.

  • Afternoon shift means any shift finishing after 6.00pm and at or before midnight.

  • Shift means a daily tour of duty exclusive of overtime hours.

  • Split shift means a work schedule, which is interrupted by non-paid non-working periods established by the employer, other than bona fide rest or meal periods.

  • Rostered Shift means any shift of which the employee concerned has had at least 48 hours notice.
