College Coursework.14.4.1.1 Undergraduate or graduate college coursework must be earned at an accredited institution to be eligible for educational unit placement or advancement. The publication �Accredited Institutions of Post Secondary Education: Programs and Candidates� published by The American Council on Education is the authority listing of accredited institutions.
College Coursework.Each teacher who successfully passes a three-hour pre-approved university or college course in the teacher’s area of assignment, or that fulfills the requirements of an additional endorsement, or for a Master’s, Specialist, or Doctoral Degree in the teacher’s area of assignment shall receive the increase per 3-hour course. Courses that are not 3 hours will be prorated on a per hour basis, which shall be determined at the time of pre-approval. The Administration has final authority on the percent increase per course, which shall be determined at the time of pre-approval. Bargaining members are limited to 6 hours of pre-approved credit per year with the exception of District required graduate program coursework. All courses must be pre-approved as provided for in article 3.6 of the negotiated agreement. The increase will be paid for the entire school year based upon the summer, spring, and fall prior to the current school year. Should new courses be offered to students, all current Olympia teachers shall be offered the opportunity to apply for said positions. If the District approves a teacher to take coursework for these new courses or to expand their endorsements to meet the needs of the District (ex. Driver’s Education, technology course), the District shall either a) provide the incentive inside the schedule and remove the 6 hour course limit and factor cap, or b) reimburse teachers for 50% of the coursework costs. If the teacher selects option b), as a condition of reimbursement from the District, the teacher agrees to work in that position for four (4) years or the teacher will repay, at a prorated amount, the District’s cost if the teacher vacates the position early. Any teacher currently enrolled in a graduate degree seeking program as of January 1, 2022, will be honored under the previous contract language and will not be subject to the coursework caps above if the degree seeking program has an imposed / required course schedule that exceeds the cap. *Approved graduate hours earned during 2021-2022 (up to 12) will be applied in the 2022-2023 school year.

College Coursework.Coursework from four-year colleges does not require the prior approval of the Units Evaluation Committee. However, final approval and verification is required. A quarter unit will equal to 2/3 of a semester unit.
College Courseworka. Coursework must relate to the employee’s current assignment or be in preparation for another position within the district. Typically, this would include acquiring skills and knowledge necessary for advancement to positions closely related to the current assignment or to qualify for and advance to another position which is pertinent to the mission of Ottawa Hills Local School District. b. The Board of Education will reimburse a full-time employee (based on job classification) and member of the support staff who earns credit toward a certificate of completion or a college degree from an accredited two-year community or four-year college. � Reimbursement is for tuition only. � Course credit reimbursement for tuition is $275 per quarter hour and $400 per semester hour. � Total district reimbursement will be capped at $4,000 per year for the three years of the current contract, with any unspent monies to be rolled over to the following contract year and added to the current year’s $4,000. The balance available for tuition reimbursement shall not exceed $10,000 for any given year during the life of this contract. This carryover provision expires at the end of this three-year contract period. � Reimbursement will not exceed the amount paid by the employee for the tuition. � No course may be repeated for payment and a grade of “pass� or a minimum of nothing lower than a “C� grade must be earned for tuition reimbursement.
College Courseworka. A teacher may be reimbursed for college courses at the rate of four hundred dollars ($ 400) per credit hour. In order to receive reimbursement, the course(s) taken by the teacher must be approved in advance by the Superintendent, and the teacher must produce proof of a passing grade in the course. Payment shall occur two (2) times per year at the regular December and May school board meetings. Requests for reimbursement must be turned in to the Superintendent’s office by December 1 and May 1. Reimbursement for college credits shall be capped at fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000) per school year. Approval for reimbursement for college course(s) shall be on a first come, first served basis until the fifteen thousand dollar ($15,000) cap is reached. A teacher may not receive reimbursement for more than three (3) credits per year unless additional college credits are approved by the Superintendent. b. If the administration requires or requests that a teacher take additional coursework, the teacher shall receive full reimbursement for the coursework, and the cost of the course(s) taken by the teacher shall not count toward the $15,000 cap established in Section 11(a) above.

The bulletin shall contain the following information: (a) type of course (subjects and material to be covered), (b) time, duration and location of the course, (c) basic minimum qualifications required for applicants. This bulletin shall be posted for a period of two (2) weeks on bulletin boards in all Departments to afford all interested employees an opportunity to apply for such training. The senior qualified applicant shall be selected.
