Each resident whose property abuts the canals in Lagoon City (but not Lake Simcoe) pays a fee with their property taxes which is pooled and spent by the LCPW to maintain the canals, the two beaches, and two foot bridges. Due to beach misuse, many residents of Lagoon City are concerned with unauthorized individuals using the beach, which is private property of levy paying Lagoon City residents. To combat this issue, the LCPW has hired security patrol in the past to ensure only authorized individuals enjoy the beach and implemented a wristband system to quickly identify authorized users.
